Tyler Starr: 10/25 pm, Mill Race

Tyler Starr

25 October 2008 from 430-445

Location: The Adirondack chairs on the south side of the Mill Stream in front of the UC

Weather: 61 ̊ F, 5-10 mph winds, clear skies

General: Fall is in full force, and it seems to transform campus to an entirely different feel. When everything was green, campus radiated life and prosperity. It seems that now everything is preparing for winter. A crow sits on top of Smith, cawing, announcing the coming of a new, rainy season. Trees everywhere are hurrying to shed their leaves in the strong winds. A majority of the deciduous trees in sight have begun to change colors and drop leaves in response to the weakening sun that is beginning to appear for less time every day. With every gust of wind, leaves fall like rain from the trees, floating down the Mill Stream and blanketing the ground. Earlier I saw a squirrel foraging, but instead of gathering acorns, it had a pile of leaves in its mouth, preparing its warm bed for the winter. The sun is still out without being covered by clouds, which I find surprising at this time of the year. I was expecting to get here, and have straight rain after a month or so, but the weather is still amazing (and way better than back home!).
