Climate: 50 degrees, chilly, but clear out
Location: Mill stream next to Goudy Commons
On my way to dinner on friday night i heard screeching and and bang. I look over and there is a car on its side in the mill stream. The driver had been trying to get away from the police apparently for bank fraud. He saw himself going strait into the mill stream so he leaped out and ran across campus, ultimately getting caught. While this is all very exciting and crazy it also sparked thoughts in my mind about whether or not this would potentially effect the mill stream as a whole. Will this put chemicals into the mill stream that could hurt it? would it change the PH of the water and kill whatever wildlife is living there? This could be very dangerous to things living in the mill stream. If the car leaks fluid into the stream like gasoline, this would definitely effect the wildlife in e negative way. Anything that isn't good to touch would not be good for fish and birds eating things out of the stream. If the car is taken out fast enough then maybe the negative effects wouldn't be so bad, but any amount of gasoline could be harmful. It would definitely be a good idea to make sure that the water is tested and treated if something is wrong. It would not be good if this had long term effects on the mill stream.
