Time: 1400-1410
Location: State St., Willson Park.
Weather: Dense clouds, a few sprinkles of rain.
The squirrel looks like a statue it's trying so hard not to be seen. I can't really believe it would let me get so close, but it could be terrified out of it's mind that there's this huge thing coming towards it. It's paws are tucked up by it's chest, and it's sitting extremely straight, with the tail curled on the ground behind it. It looks like there's something in it's cheeks, but that could just be the way squirrels are. I get close enough, eventually, that it shakes off it's paralysis and bounds a few feet away from me. I keep moving along the sidewalk, and every time I get close it bounds a few more feet and freezes. Eventually it moves a bit away from the sidewalk, towards some trees and relative safety.
